A little girl, dressed in her Sunday best, was running as fast as she could, trying not to be late for Bible class. As she ran she prayed, "Dear Lord, please don't let me be late! Dear Lord, please don't let me be late!" As she was running and praying, she tripped on a curb and fell, getting her clothes dirty and tearing her dress. She got up, brushed herself off, and started running again. As she ran she once again began to pray, "Dear Lord, please don't let me be late... But please don't shove me either!"

A merry heart does good, like medicine, but a broken spirit dries the bones. (Proverbs 17:22) NKJV

A merry heart makes a cheerful countenance, but by sorrow of the heart the spirit is broken. (Proverbs 15:13) NKJV

Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead, I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus. (Philippians 3:13-14) NKJV

GOD IS (MOTIVATION TO SELF)

But without faith it is impossible to please Him: for he that cometh to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of them that diligently seek Him. (Heb 11:6 KJV)

God is, the substitute for lustful desires, He shares a love for you that never retires,

God is, that, space filler, who goes into that spot, and fills it,

Reverses the effect of an immoral driller,

God is, the person you have always needed, when the nights were cold,

And there was nothing else to hold, but never forget,

He was right beside you, with outstretched arms,

Waiting for you, to grab on, and never let go,

God is, the epitome of Himself, nothing compares to His power,

His glory, His grace and everlasting story,

God is, that hope, that you have always needed, when your life is turning upside down,

And when your face wears a frown,

God is, that one person, who will forgive that guilty heart,

That sets us all apart, cleansing the very part it will start,

A process, which transforms, reforms, inside out,

And I will shout, because God is!

Good, God is great, and He is our outright deliverer,

God is, our company, when all seems lost,

When life has no meaning, dull, void,

God brings love; He brings a warming smile,

That won’t just last a while, it will last forever,

Through the rain, through the storm, throughout every good and bad weather,

God is, that one true friend, on whom you can depend,

Who will give a medium to open up your heart, to Him, He won’t tell,

God is, graceful and upright, for you, your battles He will fight,

Leave it up to Him, and watch Him work wonders in your life,

Because God is and will forever be…MOTIVATION TO SELF!

The LORD's Plans Stand Firm Forever

The counsel of the LORD standeth for ever, the thoughts of his heart to all generations. (Pslm. 33:11 KJV)

"The LORD's plans stand firm forever". Are you frustrated by inconsistencies you see in others, or even in yourself? God is completely trustworthy-his intentions never change. There is a promise that “Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning”. (Jas 1:17 KJV)

When you wonder if there is anyone in whom you can trust, remember that God is completely consistent. Let him counsel you, and trust in his plans for your life.

Our Map and our Guide

For this is God, Our God forever and ever; He will be our guide even to death. (Psalm 48:14) NKJV

We pray for God's guidance as we struggle with decisions. What we need is guidance and a guide-a map that gives us landmarks and directions also a companion who has an intimate knowledge of the way and will make sure we interpret the map correctly. The Bible is such a map, and the Holy Spirit is the constant companion and guide. As you make your way through life, use both the map and your Guide.

So I will sing praise to Your name forever, That I may daily perform my vows. (Psalm 61:8) NKJV

David made a vow to praise God each day. David continually praised God through both the good and difficult times of his life. Do you find something to praise God for each day? As you do, you will find your heart elevated from daily distractions to lasting confidence.

Meditating on the Splendor of the King

When I remember You on my bed, I meditate on You in the night watches. (Psalm 63:6)
During sleepless nights, David thought about God. Instead of counting sheep, he meditated on his Shepherd. He reviewed all the ways God had already helped him, and he greeted the next day with songs of praise. In quiet moments or wakeful nights, make it a point to count examples of God's faithfulness to you. Doing so is far more likely to give you rest than any other items you might count!

Confession that Cleanses

Iniquities prevail against me; As for our transgressions, You will provide atonement for them. (Psalm 65:3) NKJV

Although we may feel overwhelmed by the multitude of our sins, God will forgive them all if we ask sincerely. Do you feel as though God could never forgive you, that your sins are too many, or that some of them are too great? The good news is that God can and will forgive them all. Nobody is beyond redemption, and nobody is so full of sin that he or she cannot be made clean.
